What Changes When the Screen Goes Into a Business

The bracket is the same one we would put up in a living room. What changes is the wall it goes on, the people looking at it, and the building rules around the job.

The wall is usually metal stud, not wood

Office and retail partition walls in the GTA are overwhelmingly light-gauge metal stud. A metal stud is a hollow section, so a lag bolt has nothing to grip; the screen goes up on toggle-style anchors rated for its actual weight, set through the stud, not on the wood screws that ship in the bracket box. Concrete and block walls take sleeve or wedge anchors drilled into the solid material. We identify the wall build before we choose the fixing, and the way we do that is set out on our TV wall mounting page.

Glass partitions can’t carry a mount

A glass meeting-room wall will not take a wall mount. In those rooms we look at a floor stand or a different wall instead, and we will tell you that when you send the photos rather than on the day.

Height is set by the room, not by habit

In a meeting room or boardroom, the height comes from the far end of the table: the screen has to be readable by the person sitting furthest away, which usually means mounting lower than people expect. In a reception area, waiting room or shop floor, people look at the screen standing up as well as sitting, so the centre line is worked out for both.

Two or more screens have to match each other

One screen only has to be level. Two on the same wall also have to sit at the same height and the same spacing, and the eye catches a few millimetres of difference between neighbouring panels straight away. Every position is set out and checked against the others before anything is drilled, and the cabling is taken to one tidy point. Several screens booked together cost less per screen than booking them one at a time. A true multi-panel display, where the screens combine into one picture, is handled as a video wall installation because the tolerances are tighter again.

Commercial Work We’ve Written Up

These are real jobs, with photos:

Building Access, Insurance and Scheduling

We carry $2,000,000 commercial liability insurance and can send a certificate to your property manager or building operations team before we arrive — most commercial buildings ask for one, so it is worth requesting early. We work 9:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week, which covers evening and weekend installs when drilling and dust need to stay away from staff or customers. Every installation carries our one-year material and workmanship warranty.

Related Commercial Services

Screens are often only part of the job. We also handle monitor and monitor-arm installation, SmartBoard and interactive whiteboard mounting, projector and screen installation and structured low-voltage cabling. Anything that needs a new power outlet is work for a licensed electrician.

Questions we get asked

Commercial TV Installation Questions

The questions we get asked most on this one. If yours isn’t here, just ask us.

What kinds of commercial spaces do you install in?

Offices, meeting and boardrooms, reception areas, restaurants, bars, retail floors, showrooms, waiting rooms and gyms. If it is a screen that has to go on a wall and stay there in a space the public uses, it is work we do regularly.

How much does commercial TV installation cost?

A fixed or tilt mount starts at $179.99 for screens up to 65 inches on regular drywall, $189.99 for full motion, and from $200 above 75 inches. Commercial jobs usually involve several screens, cable concealment and specific mounting heights, so we quote the site rather than the screen.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance?

Yes. We carry $2,000,000 commercial liability insurance and can send proof to your property manager or building operations team before we arrive. Most commercial buildings ask for it, so it is worth requesting early rather than on the morning of the install.

Can you install outside business hours?

We work 9:00am to 8:00pm seven days a week, which covers evening and weekend installs for most sites. Retail and restaurant fit-outs are usually done outside trading hours so drilling and dust stay away from customers.

Can you mount screens on concrete, block or metal-stud commercial walls?

Yes, all three, and commercial buildings tend to be all three at once. Concrete and block take anchors set into solid material; metal stud partitions take a toggle system rated for the screen weight. We identify the wall build before we choose the fixing.

Can you mount a screen on a glass office partition?

No. Glass partitions cannot carry a wall mount, so in those rooms we look at a floor stand or a different wall instead, and we will tell you that before you book rather than on the day.

How high should a meeting room TV be mounted?

The table sets the height. We work back from the far end of the room so the person sitting furthest away can still read a slide, which usually means mounting lower than people expect. Sight lines matter more in a meeting room than anywhere else in an office.

Do you install multiple screens or video walls?

Yes, and several screens booked together cost less per screen than booking them separately. We align them to a shared centre line so they read as one installation and run the cabling to a single tidy point. A true multi-screen video wall, where the panels combine into a single display, is handled as its own service because the alignment tolerances are much tighter.
