Straightforward Pricing on Every Oshawa Installation

One warranty, one insurance policy, and a number you see before we start — not after.

Call (647) 839-5215
  • Clear, Up-Front Pricing

$179.99 gets a fixed or tilting mount up to 65 inches, $189.99 for full-motion, hardware always its own line. Both prices run up to 50% under a comparable big-box quote, and you see the number before an Oshawa wall gets touched.

  • Your Guaranteed Peace Of Mind Is Our Warranty

A loose bracket or a shifted mount is the rare exception, and if it happens on an Oshawa job we come back at no cost to you. The one-year material and workmanship warranty covers it whether the wall underneath turned out to be plaster, block or drywall.

  • Commercial Liability Insurance $2,000,000

An older Oshawa wall doesn’t always match what a scan says it is, and drilling into the wrong spot is a real risk we plan for, not a joke we tell. $2,000,000 in commercial liability insurance covers every job regardless of what turns up behind the paint.

What the Install Day Looks Like

Wondering how soon someone can get out? Most Oshawa requests land a next-day slot, sometimes the same one. One visit covers the whole job, any time between 9:00am and 8:00pm.

  • First, we read the wall

Before a drill comes out, the installer checks what’s behind the surface — plaster and lath in an older Oshawa house, or plain drywall in a newer one — and settles the height with you standing in the room, not guessed from the doorway.

  • Then the bracket goes up

The mount lands on real structure, the TV goes on, and we level it by eye and by tool rather than trusting the wall or the floor to be square. Cables get connected and the picture checked before anything is called finished.

  • Last, the room gets left as we found it

Packaging, dust and offcuts leave with us. That’s built into the visit, not billed as an extra.

What’s Included and What’s Priced Separately

Three lines, not one number: installation, hardware, cable. That split matters more in Oshawa than most places, because what’s behind an older wall here can change the second line before we’ve even started the first.

  • Included in every job

The one-year workmanship warranty, and the dust, offcuts and packaging cleared out before we leave your Oshawa home.

  • Priced separately

Hardware and cable get their own lines. The chart further down this page is installation pricing only, no mount or cable folded in.

  • Confirmed when you book

Whether an Oshawa wall turns out to be plaster, block or drywall decides the rest of the price, confirmed at booking rather than guessed on the phone. Already have a bracket or a cable kit? We’ll install what you’ve got.

A note before you hang anything

Not every empty-sounding wall is safe to guess on

Basement build-outs are where Oshawa’s steel shows up most, tucked in around ductwork and party walls rather than spread through the whole house.

  • Guessing costs more than checking

A bracket set with the wrong fastener can hold for weeks before it lets go, which is worse than it failing on day one. Confirming the framing first costs a few minutes; replacing drywall and a fallen TV costs a lot more.

  • A magnet finds what a knock can’t

Steel and timber both sound hollow under a knuckle, so we run a magnetic stud finder rather than trusting our ears. It picks up the screws holding the drywall on, which tells us what’s behind it in seconds.

  • Steel tends to cluster around service walls

Where a basement has been finished around a furnace or ductwork, that’s the wall most likely to be steel-framed rather than the rest of the house. We treat that wall differently from the start rather than assuming it matches the room next to it.

Downtown and retail strips

A shop or office screen isn’t judged by the same rules as a living room one

Downtown Oshawa’s storefronts and the offices around it bring their own checklist, separate from anything a house needs.

  • Scheduling comes before the toolbox

A shop that’s open six days a week doesn’t have a convenient gap for drilling overhead. We work out timing with you first — before opening, after close, or a slower afternoon — so the install doesn’t collide with customers.

  • Cable gets routed, never draped

A cord running across a counter or behind a till is the kind of thing that gets flagged on an inspection, not just an eyesore. We contain it properly, matched to the space rather than a generic fix.

  • The right height depends on who’s looking, not where they sit

A screen in a downtown Oshawa storefront window is judged from the sidewalk as much as from inside, which is a different sightline problem than a boardroom or a waiting room. We check both before settling on a spot.

Renting in Oshawa

What does a landlord need to sign off on?

Most leases don’t mention TV mounts at all, which means your landlord’s answer is the one that counts — worth asking before the appointment, not after.

  • Get the patch-up agreed first

Some landlords are fine with a handful of anchor holes and expect nothing back at move-out. Others want the wall made good. That’s a two-line email, and it’s a lot easier to send before we’ve drilled than to negotiate after.

  • We keep the hole count honest

A fixed or tilting bracket needs four to six holes depending on the mount; full-motion needs more because the arm carries more leverage. We’ll tell you the real number for your setup so there are no surprises in the lease conversation.

  • Making good is straightforward, not free

Filling and touching up a handful of anchor holes is a small job for a painter, and most tenants handle it themselves in an afternoon. We won’t quote it as part of the install, but we’re happy to walk you through what it involves.

Mounting a 65-Inch TV or Larger

A screen at 65 inches or bigger is a two-person lift, and on most Oshawa jobs that second pair of hands is you for about ten seconds while the installer guides it onto the bracket — no second-technician line added to your invoice for it. At that size the box is nearly as awkward as the television, so we flatten it and take it with us rather than leaving a hallway full of packaging behind in an Oshawa walk-up.

Plaster or drywall behind that paint?

Oshawa’s older streets and its newer builds test very differently under a stud finder. Send a photo of the spot and we’ll tell you which one you’ve got.

Prices exclude hardware and are estimates only. We confirm your final price by phone or email once we’ve seen photos and the details of your setup.

What moves the number is the size of the screen, what the wall is made of, and where the TV needs to sit. Marble, stone, under-cabinet and above-fireplace jobs take longer and need different anchors, so we quote those directly.

Send a photo of the TV, the wall and where you want it, and we’ll quote the whole job before we arrive.

Oshawa Depends Which End You’re In

Around O’Neill, Lakeview and the central streets the houses have some age on them. Up near Windfields and the university it’s new build. That’s not a complaint either way — it’s two different jobs, and it’s why we ask where you are and what the wall is before we quote rather than after we arrive. The gap between those two ends of the city is bigger than the drive between them suggests.

  • Plaster does not read like drywall

On an older Oshawa house the wall is often plaster over lath, and a stud finder run across it will give you a confident answer that’s wrong. We verify physically before drilling and keep the number of holes down, because plaster is unforgiving and awkward to make good afterwards. A wall that’s had a renovation or two can also be hiding old lath patches or strapping under a smooth-looking finish, which is exactly why the visual read from the doorway isn’t the one that counts.

  • Finished basements hide their construction

Older houses tend to have the basement finished, and a finished basement wall can be framed or it can be drywall fixed straight onto the foundation. Those need completely different anchors. We establish which one you have first — it takes a minute and it decides everything after it. It’s a quick check with a probe rather than a guess, and it’s the main reason a basement TV mount takes a touch longer to quote than a main-floor one.

  • The apartments here are walk-ups, not towers

Oshawa’s apartment stock leans to walk-ups rather than concrete towers. That’s closer to a house wall than a shear wall, and it has usually been altered more than once, so we look at what’s behind the finish before picking hardware. It also means no elevator booking or building-office paperwork to sort before we can start — access is usually as simple as a house call.

Older Walls, Newer Walls

  • Older housing stock

A good deal of Oshawa's housing has some age on it, and that shows up behind the finish: plaster and lath, brick, and framing that predates any modern spacing standard. A stud finder is a starting point on those walls, not an answer.

We scan, verify physically, and keep the number of holes to a minimum — plaster is unforgiving to patch, and a wall that's been renovated once or twice can hide strapping or old openings behind a clean surface. Where a previous owner ran their own renovation, we've also found blocking placed in odd spots to hang a mirror or shelf that's long gone, another reason a physical check beats trusting the first reading.

  • Newer builds and finished basements

The newer areas are mostly drywall over wood framing, which is the most forgiving surface there is. Cable runs inside the wall and nothing shows below the screen.

Basements are the exception worth checking. A finished basement wall can be concrete or block, or a framed wall standing in front of one, and the anchors differ completely between the two. Where the subdivision is recent enough, engineered lumber and the occasional steel stud show up too, which changes the fastener even though the wall still reads as ordinary drywall.

  • Rentals, apartments and commercial rooms

Apartment and rental walls are frequently concrete or block. Concrete is the most secure thing you can mount to, but cable can't be buried in it, so a slim painted channel handles the run instead.

If you're renting, it's worth agreeing with the owner up front about patching at move-out. For commercial rooms we mount screens high and clear, factor in whether the screen needs to clear a counter or shelving first, and handle SmartBoard installation for training and meeting spaces.

Who we are

About Us

GTA TV Wall Mounting treats Oshawa's plaster and lath walls, brick chimney breasts and walk-up apartment walls as three separate jobs, not one. Each takes a different anchor, and each changes what wire concealment can realistically hide.

Ask for a single screen in an Oshawa living room or a full video wall installation for a shop downtown, and the answer starts in the same place: what's behind that wall. Offices wanting smart boards or extra monitor installation get the same question asked first.

  • Credentials Matter

2018 to 2023: a Homestars Best Of Award winner each year. Houzz recognized us the same way from 2018 to 2021.

  • Safety

Every Oshawa job starts with a look at the wall, not the TV — confirming it can carry the screen's weight before any hardware gets chosen. Anchors are matched to what the surface turns out to be, cables get tucked away from foot traffic, and the installer checks the mount is solid before calling the visit done.

Our Services

Plaster and lath, and a brick chimney breast, both narrow what a bracket can safely swing off them. Settle which of the three types suits your Oshawa wall before ordering hardware, since each sits on its own price line.

  • Fixed and Tilting Mounts

The common choice on an Oshawa wall with nothing complicated behind it. A fixed bracket sits the screen flat; a tilting one angles it down, both starting the price chart above.

  • Full-Motion Mounts

Worth the extra line when a basement or a walk-up living room has more than one seating spot, since the arm swings the screen to whichever one’s in use.

  • Bringing your own bracket?

Tell us the make, model and screen size with your quote, and we’ll flag any mismatch with your wall before the appointment, not after.

  • Samsung Frame TV Installation

On plaster or drywall alike, the Frame’s flat profile doesn’t forgive a second try, so the position and the One Connect route both get settled first, drilling second.

    Frame TV installation

  • Wire Concealment

Wood-framed Oshawa drywall usually lets cable run inside the wall. Plaster and block don’t, so a slim painted channel handles the run there instead.

  • Above-Fireplace Mounting

  • Projector Installation

A ceiling-mounted projector only looks clean if the cable run happens before the ceiling does. Home theatres and training rooms both get that cable routed back to the source rather than left hanging in view.

  • Video Walls & SmartBoards

More than one screen tiled together is what a video wall is, built for a training room or a showroom floor. A single SmartBoard usually covers an ordinary Oshawa office.

One seat in that room, or more than one?

A single sofa usually wants a fixed bracket. A basement or an open-plan room with more than one seating spot is where full-motion earns its keep. Tell us the layout and we’ll point you to the right one.

Questions we get asked

TV Mounting in Oshawa: Common Questions

How much does TV mounting cost in Oshawa?

A fixed or tilting mount on drywall runs $179.99 up to a 65-inch screen, full-motion is $189.99, wire concealment starts at $99.99, and a fireplace mount is $399.99. Hardware and cable are separate line items, not folded into that number. The fastest way to a firm figure is a photo of the wall and the TV.

Is my Oshawa house plaster or drywall behind the paint?

If the house predates the 1970s, plaster over lath is a safe bet, and it throws off a stud finder more often than it helps. We tap and probe by hand before committing to a drill, which keeps the hole count down on a surface that's painful to patch well.

What about a brick or masonry fireplace wall?

Brick takes a mount fine — sleeve anchors and a hammer drill instead of hunting for a stud. The part worth checking first is height and mantel clearance, because a lot of fireplace walls put the screen higher than it should sit for comfortable viewing.

Do you mount TVs in rental apartments?

Regularly. Oshawa's apartment stock runs to walk-ups more than towers, so the wall behind the drywall could be block, could be framed — we check before quoting hardware. If you're renting, settle who patches the wall at move-out before we book the job, not after.

Can the cabling stay hidden?

In a wood-framed wall, yes, it runs inside and nothing shows below the screen. Plaster and block are a different story — we can't bury cable in either, so a slim channel gets painted to match instead. It still reads as tidy, just not invisible.

Do you handle Samsung Frame TVs?

Yes, regularly. The Frame hangs close to the wall with almost no reveal, so the bracket has to be level and the height right before anything is drilled. We route the One Connect cable during the same visit rather than leaving it dangling.

Will you supply the mount, or can I buy my own?

Either. We stock fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets for most screen sizes, and we'll fit a bracket you've already bought if it matches the TV and the wall. Tell us the model when you book so we can flag any mismatch in advance.

Are you covered to work in a commercial unit?

We carry $2,000,000 in commercial liability coverage and can email a certificate to a landlord, office manager or building super the same day you ask. The one-year workmanship warranty applies whether the job is a living room or a lobby.
